I will stop by on the way to see Dave Lynas in Duluth!    Thanks, Ron.  Likely won't happen but it sure sounds inviting.

Well, if you ever up in Minnesota (St. Paul area) give me a holler. I'd be happy to let you take her for a spin.

Cool and thanks.   There was a recent Des Moines Craigslist with a modern Martin X series tenor.  Ames, Iowa and I think it was $250.00.   I was tempted, but read a review some where that said the Ibanez like I briefly had sounded better.   I'd love to hear and try your archtop tenor.

Hi John! None taken of course. They are all different animals as you know. I'm working on pick patterns for tenor over here. Elizabeth Cottens pattern for example. I'm starting to get it down.  They do sound different from a flattop but the way I play, who knows ;)

The flattop is a Stella and the archtop (tenor) is a Harmony. I like them and they project pretty dang well acoustically. The necks on both are a little narrow at the nut compared to the necks I build and take some getting used to. Both are about 1 3/8"at the nut.  I found them both on Craigslist on the relative cheap. I've seen Gibson and other similar tenors for sale around here but they want crazy money for those.

Oh, oh, oh, OH!    It's not often on this site when the factory builts catch my eye the most.   No disrespect to the nice 3 string.

I am a recent tenor convert.   My only down side on them is that they are hard to hear jamming with six string and mando players.  But part of that is my poor hearing.

Talk to me on tenors.   How is the volume and tone on archtop?   How is the flat top and what is it?  Looks like a Harmony or Stella.

I have a nice no name vintage tenor plus a big box tenor I made myself.  It has been a journey getting it to be a good player, but I think I am there with it now.

Hey, I bought an Ibanez Artwood tenor (solid top) from Musician's Friend.   It was nice, but did not sound as good as my home made or vintage tenors.   And the neck!   So skinny.  Like a long mandolin neck.   Scared me and I sent it back.

I love tenors!
