Larry. I use oak for almost all my necks. That first one was poplar because I thought it would be easier to work with. Its real thick though. I've used maple a couple times, but I like the way the oak looks. I put 10s on all my guitars, never had a complaint about the neck bowing. Hope this helps, Paul

I just used poplar for a neck for the first time. I'm finding it more flexible than maple. Maybe I need a lighter gauge string. What's been your experience with poplar?
