mmmmm ... great idea to cover the cones with on my termite infested plywood speaker box i found 2 days ago , busy making a CBG out of it ....OH..and the termites are from the USA too ...strange noonoos boring around all over inside the 3 layer plywood panels .Going to freeze them dead , then fill their corridoors up with woodglue and sawdust .

Nope I don't think they need to be covered either. But they sure do look good that way!

I have only had one person that smooshed a cone that I know of and he stepped on his guitar. So I think they are pretty safe uncovered. I have smooshed one too myself but that was an extreme deal too testing them out hahaa!

Huh.  I never thought your cones needed to be covered.  But, that is  a great looking cover and a nice relic job all around.
