Snow White... 1st go with a mag pickup. Wanted to use a cheapie for my first go. Worked fairly well despite my more than basic soldering expertise! Looking forward to putting mags in more of my future builds.

Thanks Bluesheart, and Hal there are no stupid questions... I’ve read just about every post on here looking for answers!! Most people on here angle the 6 pole mag so that each string runs between 2 poles. This was my plan, but to be honest didn't really work out.... But having completed it I don’t think it really matters, it still sounds pretty good considering it’s a $5 mag. If you’re concerned you could try using a humbucker or blade pickup instead and then it doesn’t matter how many strings you have. Or the 4 string bass pickups are meant to work pretty well. Its all just trial and error so give it a go and if it doesn’t work just build another!

Stupid question... any problems, concerns or worries about using a 6 pole pickup with 3 strings? How's it sound?
