Another heel carving on the go, this side is an Aztec skull and clouds (influenced by some tatoos that i saw)

Comment by flatfoot johnny on January 3, 2012 at 12:49pm Thanks for the kind words Gavin. I make my neck and dowel rod as a single piece and the dowel rod pushes through holes in the cigarbox nice and tight then all held together by the tension of the strings. Neck thicknesses vary with what ever wood is available.

Comment by Gavin Lee Horsman on January 3, 2012 at 4:54am Thanks for your help Johnny...I think i will buy a wood carving book and have a go...your neck design looks different to others i have seen...how thick do you make your necks? How do you attach them to the box? Forgive my enthusiasm, but I'm new to this and want to learn as much as i can...i stumbled across your page yesterday and i must say that it is the most interesting and inspiring i have seen so far.
