Future Hacks
Now look at what you've started John.
Wife cleaned out the basement this weekend and these were in the "get rid of" pile. The shower radio might just go in my tackle box but the others are already on the bench waiting for their fate.

The blue one has the name GPX. It and the silver Craig are both CD radios . I think I'm going to start with the black RCA as it seems to be the easiest to dismantle and has a tape head which according to John should be easy to do.
These are all obviously solid state but I never even considered repalcement tubes for an older hack if they were needed. I'd like to know the answer to that as well.

I also caught the bug of turning old radio's into amps. I just got this on ebay for $4.99 and shipping. I'd love to know how to do the hack with battery radios with tubes. Does one then commit to finding replacement tubes? Are they hard to come by?

That blue one in the front looks like an Emerson I picked up at a thrift store for $5. Let me know what you do with it, I'm undecided.
