Basically annealing is heating up the brass with a torch before bending it to remove all of the work hardening in the metal. It softens the brass to avoid cracking it as you bend it. I've read several opinions both for and against it, and was just wondering if you did it or not - I wasn't suggesting you do it. I'm getting ready to bend some brass tail pieces (my first time) and thought I'd ask if you had done it or not.

I have no idea what annealing is.....so Im pretty sure I didnt do that (; Its pretty thin, .040 so I cut it with a hacksaw and did all the real shaping with a grinding wheel.

What is annealing?

That looks great! Just wondering - do you anneal the brass before you bend it or do you even bother with that?
