Comment by Dave Lynas on May 13, 2012 at 8:44am Hi Jason, I just got a book matched Rosewood set that's all chipped out, warped, little cracks, $22 off ebay not counting shipping. I'll use mine as control plates or laminates for lap steels. I've got some nicer Walnut for fret boards. Rosewood is getting scarce. Walnut seems to be the fretboard in common use. My Rosewood is beautiful though, it has a light streak through it in striking contrast to the background wavy Rosewood.
Comment by Jason Johnson on May 13, 2012 at 3:56am Just about done with it, put in the frets this afternoon. I got that rosewood from a guy of ebay and that piece of wood was the biggest pain in the ass Ive dealt with. Ive got nicer oak fretboards and lowes fir 3 bucks. Speant 20 and got a warped piece with nicks in it, very dissapointed with a piece specifically sold for being a fretboard. I dont have a tablesaw so block sanded it for hours and it turned out good.
