Notice also the volume knob is not on the top? That's because the less you have on the top the better it's going to sound acoustically and electric because the resonance carries through the pickup. The pickup is the only thing that needs to be on the top yes it hurts the acoustic sound some but it's nominal.

It's my new tail design. I've used it on all my new ones this year. I don't like all the metal people use on the top. It looks good but kills the resonance. I prefer to make the tails and bridges from wood and bone. I think simple and clean is best.
