This build is offered up to a CBN friend who is a good builder himself, but likes to have some instruments from other builders. It is one of my cheap-ass builds, scrap pine and a K-mart yard stick for the fret board. It is tuned DGB and after a few necessary tweaks, it plays and sounds pretty good. And I had fun building it and playing it.

The action is low at the neck for fretting and picking and a bit high on up the neck for sliding with less clacking. There is a spacer under the saddle that can be removed for lower action (string height).

I screwed up and got the side by side tuners (machine heads) too close together and that caused me to have to mount them at a bit of an angle. Oh well. It had a lot of buzz when I got it done, especially the B (small) string. A string tree (holder downer!) helped that and then going from a coarse threaded saddle screw to a fine threaded saddle screw improved and got rid of almost all buzz. It plays and sounds pretty good.

When I gift a CBG to a builder, I kind of hope they will set it up and modify it to fit their own taste and playing style. I hope they will enjoy it for a while and then I don't mind if they pass it on to someone else.
