The pickup is inside that cover plate/hand rest. It's a Fender Tele style single coil made by John Benson. It's a custom handwound pup i got off ebay. It is made for a lap steel style guit. The body on this old bird is a Fender Champ from the 40s. I got the body carcass with no gear in it. I made the fretboard, cover plates, etc. I'd love to have that first tail to build into another relic. I'll send a message with my address. Thanks, Dave

thas frikin awsom! is it hollow ? and wheres the pickup? and dude ill send u the first attempt for free! it would look awsom on the ass of that beast! i can picture it wrapping around the end of it and ...shit! but im serious..tell me where to send it and i will! what kind of electronics do u got in there? like i say i got a preamp eq tuner for min and didnt like the idea of cutting a hole in the box for it..plus it wasnt real brass! it sounded awsom though! so now i sold that one and ordered a simple deal with no volume..i hop it sounds as good!

Hi Matthew, here tis. mine is just simple. Aluminum angle iron from Menard's. Hack saw, grinder, drill press. You can see my failed wood bridge below on the gravel. It was weak where all the string holes go through. I like the new bridge. It changed the sound. Now it's more metalic, really... I've never noticed such a difference in the way a change like this can make the sound. This bridge is grounded to the volume pot. A wire goes down the screw hole on the right screw. Your bridge is much more complex with being tucked into the body. I like your design.

well show us a picture! yes i fixed the tail piece but had to beat the shit out of it to do it...lmao! now it has pings all over it!! and a set of martin mediums took care of most of the rattle or vibration or harmonic distortion or whutever the fuck it was! just waiten on my preamp ..and then figure what kinda holes to put in it...then the brass dots inlay..then then then.....lmao!

Nice Matthew, looks like that tailpiece has been resolved. I just made a metal tail today to replace a split wood one....
