This is for sale at the local re-sale shop. $20.  The lady doesn't know if it is a tube or ciruit and I couldn't open the back.  I'm not sure I'm ready to not die messing with a tube.  Any ideas if this Silvertone is solid state or tube?

Here's a couple of 50's Motorola portable radios that I'm going to hot-wire. I understand that it won't be as loud as the transistor ones or as overdriven but I'm excited to hear what it will sound like all the same.

Thanks for the tip Corbie, I did not cut the motor power,(makes sense). I'm in MA and that's a good idea about the dumps. A rockin' chair I built once, was recovered years later, from a dump station, odd story- but I digress. Since joining, I have been scouting for sources, found a couple Walkmen. Up til now I have built for my own use, now I have crossed the line and I need to figure out what to do with the things I keep building. Maybe donate, anyway, Thanks for the advice.
