lol looks like you had the same one as well
oops i meant papatone, sorry miss keyed
What about the Papaone
Another boombox radio, I know, but because I have the Sony Sports, the 8-Track, and that AM/FM Grand Prix (the twinkie) I wanted to take this one to another level. What I'm going to do with this one is mount it inside a wooden case for a CGB 3-string. I have been so entertained by these amps that I haven't had time for the three stringer (I did make the cookie tin 2-stringer) but there's the new year at hand.
I have taken the guts out of a Panasonic AM/FM Cassette Player that my dad gave me today for sweeping his chimney. It's more like he unloaded it without a power cord. I have bypassed the power with a 9 volt source but it was to test it but I'll use it's own power source it came with. Right now it's a complete hack on the work bench but it works. The boombox comes with an amp that all the parts plug in. This makes it perfect for this project because it's simple to isolate the amp from the stuff you don't need. The pictures have labels to describe what I found on my Panasonic and maybe this could guide you to do the same thing that I did.
This is the boombox split and everything unplugs from the amp board. Sweet!
This is the amp board. The 9 volt plug is where the power supply plugs in batteries and all. Motor/Switch will get a toggle switch to turn on the wall power and removing the power cord from the amp will leave the batteries as the source of power. All this was part of the radio. Radio plug will be left alone but the Radio/Tape Player Switch will be slid to the tape on position and left there. Tape Head wire will be soldered on the 1/4" jack as my other amp builds were. Thats it, hopefully easy for anyone to understand and do for themselves.
I cut the battery case off the radio with a 10pt handsaw. Now thats hacking at it's best. This had the power supply soldered to it so I left it intact. The unit plugs into the amp board.
It does work and for now I'm settin it aside till I'm ready to mount it in a guitar case so till then this is up for anyone to try for themselves. Hope this is helpfull. Enjoy!
PapaSimone Love the look of that silver tone and i will be eeping my eye out on ebay for one. I even think ive a honeytone with a broken case laying around somewhere, So thank you for that idea.
Thanks Corbie found it ...tc
