hi all new here any help on how to make one of these awesome guitars would be great. i live in auckland

Comment by Kalmario on December 9, 2012 at 10:36am

sweet as

last time i used a drill press to sandwich them in which gave a much better result, if she can scam one of those (especially for the tuning machines too) from someone, it makes the job a lot quicker.

although these guys are expensive

the small stuff works well with any cheap kid size hack saw available at bunnings for under $10

last lot i got from cb gitty

Nice one Kirsten, post up some pics of your work and the said tool. Always looking for decent gear

Yuss a $4 hobby hacksaw from The Warehouse works for fretting! Thats a win, had to tell you guys cos no other forum would understand the whole warehouse thing!! Anyway not pretty fretting I'm just attempting it, but so far its staying in, just need a bigger file! and you have to use the jumbo fret wire, but it looks cool and chunky. Working on a 4 string uke with steel strings, maybe wired!!

Yeah i'm waiting on my cigar smoking cousin for some boxes, but have gathered the rest of trade me. Brought some bits of cb gitty, including those corner pieces and some grommets, plus wiring to make a 9v amplifier! Which i'm excited about. Hmm I should take up drinking and smoking. I had been thinking once I had the hang I wouldn't mind making some boxes. Also got my eye on a tahitian uke, bit off the track, but I've a big cigar box that I thought would work well! Hope they dont mind me pacifiking it up!

Hub caps or making a panjo (if you're on facebook look up turkeychicken cigar box guitars) I will look into later also!

Hey Kirsten

Great to see you mate

Yep, guitarparts.co.nz are great, really quick service. I get my cigar boxes from a dude I know in Auckland city but lately I have been going to boot sales and op shops, get some good tins and hub caps  there. Plus an ABC swappa crate makes a great guitar body

Hello! I'm down in Wellington, built my first one...waiting to start with the rest...Where have you guys found good places to buy bits and pieces from? So far I've found guitarparts.co.nz and if you go on amazon.com and look up cb gitty they sell and ship from there too which is handy! (noticing the US guys get really nice bits and pieces!)

Thanks
Kirsten
