I agree with Malcolm. A few years ago I spent hours boiling down a bone from the butchers, cut it, shaped it, sanded that stinking little thing into a nut and felt pretty good about myself. Ebay for every single one since!

Ants?!! Boiling?!! Bleaching?!! Christ, you lot have got far too much time on your hands! I'm with Roosterman on this - I take the lazy (easy and less stinky) option of Ebay. However, I admire your dedication to the 'hand built' ethos.

Mmmm and for anyone who has not yet had the pleasure of feeding bone into a bandsaw "stink messy" is about right!

Still nice to make things from scratch sometimes though.
