Alan, thanks, that's far too nice of you but I have to accept my fate and I'm very concerned not to become a 'sponger'. Anway, there's always additional expenses and crap to worry about. Perhaps my thoughts came across as too much moaning - I'm just disappointed, that's all. The really stupid thing is that a few days before hand I have to travel south past Brum on the way to a job interview - expenses paid - but I'm not allowed to 'stop off' for the show. Pehaps we'll be able to get another 'do' together before too long and make it to that instead ? By the way, I love the 'Corn Flakes' CBG. It reminds me of the Corn Flakes guitar that Rob Armstrong made for Simon Nichol of Fairport Convention many years ago. Anyway, all might not be yet lost as I am waiting on a tax refund from the inland revenue and if that comes through before the show then I'll be driving down to the event myself. If anybody on here really wants to help me - - - then give me a job ! Please ?

Hi Kev , not sure how to put this without sounding flash , but if I paid for your
ticket , would you make it down to Brum?
I'd love to be there , but due to work commitments - no chance.
Let me know as soon as poss , and I'll sort something out.
regards AL

What's not to like ? Ermmm - the price, I'm afraid. Okay, it is probably quite a bit less than most other one-day musical events and that is fine if you happen to be managing okay in these recession-hit times. If you are in disadvantaged circumstances, however - the sort of circumstances which lead to people making guitars out of cigar boxes in the first place - then it is rather 'difficult' to say the least. Are there price concessions for those who are disabled, unempoyed or terminally broke ?

Pete

It's only the evening that is organised as a gig (and there will still be an open mic. session for those brave enough to play in front of a paying audience, and the house band will be at your disposal!!). The rest of the day is structured, but it will be relatively informal, with discussions/workshops about how to play, how to build, an opportunity show off your instruments, buy a CGB..and a jam /low-key open mic session....all this, plus lunch, tea & coffee and the concert on the all-day ticket. What's not to like?!!

Pete, check out the listing in the 'Events' section - John has posted a rough guide to the days activities there.
Be sure to bring your CBG though!! There is time for jamming, an open mic session, and a lot of time to chat and share thoughts, tips and ideas - come along, bring your work and show it off!

Hi,
I'm not sure if I can get to the fest. Will it be worth people taking their CBG along i.e will there be any sort of jam or open session?
I think that's what I envisaged when I first saw the event annouced an didn't realize it would be a concert with proper musicians and all. Any plans for a more informal gathering anywhere, anybody?

Hi Neil..and anyone else who doesn't want to pay via PayPal. You can pay for your tickets by cheque/postal order/cash by recorded delivery. Just email me at wormald.design@virgin.net and I can let you have details for payment.

Kevin...all-day ticket (incl lunch & evening gig) is £25.00 available online of contact me thru' the site. Check to see if there's anyone else from your neck of the woods coming down...there are a few others who are sharing a ride down from other places - if we can use the forum to hook-up people with oneanother, so much the better.

Tickets available online here -

Okay, I'm so desperate to get to the event that I'm considering hitchin' a lift down the M6 ! I think I've now got enough dosh for a ticket but I don't know how much they are or how to get them. :-( Given that I've spent about four years on the original CBG group moaning that all the CBG events are on the wrong side of the Atlantic, I can't miss this one !
