I kept this one quiet for a while but I got an order from Joe Brown's tour manager Brad. If you're younger than 50 you won't remember Joe. He was an early skiffle/rock 'n roller of the late 50's early 60's and still gigging regularly. I got an invite to one of his gigs and to sit in for the soundcheck. Unfortunately Joe fell sick with a virus and had to cancel and I din't get to go. I asked Brad if he could get a photo of Joe having a play on my guitar and here it is. He's re-scheduled for january and I'm invited again. Hope it comes off this time, should be a buzz. You might like to check out Joe Browns website, (just Google it) it surprised me what an ecclectic range of music he plays now. He's a keen Uke player as well as guitar.

I agree with not throwing babies out with the bathwater and not needing to fix it. The gig this year was spot on. The only things I feel could improve is if we had more room to display our guitars and I would have liked more time to do some jamming. Everything else was great and I just want more of it!

Hi all, Dave here. Just joined this great site and found you UK members. With all the talk of next years show, it makes me regret not finding this site before as I would have loved to have see and hear some of the great playing in person and seen some of the CBG's you guy's have made, so roll on next year!
Cheers
Dave.

John,
I think your comment about the baby and the bath water is spot on. There's not much needs improving. You did a cracking job getting this year's together. The consensus seems to be more of the same, please! Greater numbers may mean a venue change, but the formula is pretty good already. If it ain't broke, it don't need fixing. I'm happy to help with next year's fest.

The way CB Nation UK numbers are going, I reckon we are may have to cope with 50-100% increase in numbers by the time 2010 CBG Fest comes around. I think we had around the mid 80s members and rising on here at the time of the Fest, with 25 at the workshops and around 60 at the gig.

Already we are up to 113... surely we'll have 200 or more within the next year, so I expect demand for the workshops and gig may rise accordingly. All food for thought...I've not decided on anything yet, but I'm mulling over a few possibilities. Do feel free to throw in any ideas or comments.

I get the feeling that people want more of the same as last time, so I need to balance a cautious and conservative approach I (i.e. something that will work) with an open-minded attitude (going out on a limb and getting risky with it). That's sort of what happened last year, and it worked, so 2010 UK CBG Fest will happen I am 100% confident of that, and you'll be the first to hear about it on here.

Its all Seasicks Fault !!!
I am as you will find new to this site joined a couple of days ago
my interest came through a friend of a friend of a friend etc. etc.
bored with 6 strings and even resonators I thought after being sent a seasick mp3 from a mate in London the heart of the free west
cbg looked like a direction for my ecentricity
so travelled over the border today to Bristol to look @ a for sale cbg
The guy selling was a great guy ,and very open and welcoming it was a bit like meeting a born again whatsoever is there a grow a beard and wear osh kosh dungies like seasick gonig on,
anyway with the greatest of respect this guys instrument was totally blue peter his ethusiasm was spot on but his playing was also blue peter sorry if you are on this thing
but! I got to have a crack on a cbg and I am even more infused

looks like I am going to have to build sooner than I hoped to dont get a lot of time as I travel a lot and live in hotels during the week so I need to build something neat and durable love the thought of playing something so raw and noisey in posh hotels. cracking! anyway guys thats my first week in your world still having nightmares of those blokes in the straw hats with their banjos and getting a bit worried about poultry respect to all James

Hi John
Just been reading the threads on your idea's of next years CBG Fest!
I would just like to say that, this years venue was to me just right! Small but very well accomodating with a nice relaxed atmosphere throughout the entire day and evening, with a great bunch of people to boot!
Your planning of the event was to me second to none! with plenty of time for all the things that were planned, good food as well.
If the event is to grow then I suppose it should grow, from where we started!
I have no problem with putting myself forward in helping out with any of the arrangements, f you wish to expand into some other areas, as I feel we should spread the word a little bit more!
I am looking forward to next years event and feel that the £25.00 paid this year was ok! As soon as the dates are set I can book the necessary time off work!
So here's one helper willing to give a hand to an event that must surely grow, but slowly?
