Hi guys,
As Im sure you all know, we have been quietly working away on next years main event for some time now. Hell we had to start early - how do you top Ben Prestage?!
There will be some slight changes this year, though we will be keeping true to our roots.
First big change is a new city and a new venue. In an attempt to reach a wider audience and to attract some of our fellow CBGers from 'oop norf', we are taking the show straight up the M6. To Manchester!
Im sure you all know that Mad-chester has a vibrant music scene, good road and rail links and, some great venues. Like 'Band On The Wall'. For those who dont know, Band on the Wall is a historic live music venue, so named as the bands used to play on a platform suspended half way up the wall!
Now fully refurb'd to a high standard, and run as a charitable organisation, they are very in tune with what we do. Check out their website for more info http://bandonthewall.org/
The date for your diary is Friday 7th and Saturday 8th September 2012
Again we will be running a 2 day event, with an open mic and free gig on the friday, the usual Saturday daytime tomfoolery, and then the main gig on the Sat evening.
And what a gig this will be! We already have three superb international artists confirmed, but we have one more trick up our sleeve. As soon as we know more we will post the details here!
I promise you this though.... Its going to be a blinder!
*STOP PRESS* The Friday night open mic and free Hollowbelly gig will be at;
The Salutation, 2 Higher Chatham Street, Manchester. M15 6ED
More details in the discussion....

They reckon the Sally holds around 200, half of which will be us lot, so it should be a scream.
I might bring my banjo....

Great news - we have just added a Cajon drum building workshop into the schedule!
In a similair vein to the ever popular cigar box building sessions, we'll be providing full kits, and we'll even have an expert on hand to assist - Becky Tate from Babajack. Becs cajon playing is world class and she has been nominated for a British Blues award this year in the 'Other Instrument' category (vote now!!). Once shes helped you put your cajon together, complete with snare, there'll be a players workshop showing you how to get the best out of it too. Cant say fairer than that!
We are also very pleased toconfirm that Babajck will be performing on the Saturday evening alongside Dave Arcari, Blackriver Bluesman & Bad Mood Hudson and Mike Snowden.
Permalink Reply by ChickenboneJohn on July 20, 2012 at 3:52am This is shaping up to be a cigarbox and cajon orchestra once everyone has got their instruments completed!
Permalink Reply by jabes on August 1, 2012 at 9:06am i built myself a cajon but no snare, if i bring it along can i just buy and fit the snare?

Permalink Reply by Roosterman on July 20, 2012 at 4:28pm Even more goodness people - Mellow Peaches will be providing a little lunchtime entertainment on Saturday afternoon. If you dont know who these guys are, settle back with a cuppa and youtube, and enjoy! They also play as the Brave Sons Of Elijah Perry, and Amit Dattani is one hell of a solo multi-instrumentalist too...
