I've just recorded a few numbers and an interview with Rick Stuart for the Roots & Fusion show on Pure Radio, due to go out on Wednesday 20th June at 10.00pm.

It was recorded at Stockport Air Raid Shelters, which was in interesting place to record. There's a mile of tunnels cut into the sandstone under Stockport, and it's now a museum. Surprisingly the acoustic was quite "dry", although that's more than can be said for the humidity...it was pretty cold and damp down there...it once provided a refuge for 6000 people during the Second World War.

Next month Hollowbelly will be doing another session for the show... in a chapel....I must make sure I get "The Confessional" guitar back to him for the recording.

That'd getcha on Antiques Roadshow, fer sure.

Hi good people...the session is now available as a podcast...

ChickenboneJohn on Roots & Fusion radio show

It's all there.....warts and all...it's all a bit rough 'n' ready, dodgy vocals and all..and manfully trying to get to grips with my new kickdrum and hi-hat/tambourine...co-ordinating guitar, vox and both feet is a struggle for me...I blame the cold, the damp, the lack of light....being the wrong side of the Pennines...here's what's on the podcast:

Down in the Hole (Tom Waits)

Trouble In Mind (trad. arr Kent Duchaine)

Jitterbug Swing (Bukka White)

Werewolves of London (Warren Zevon)

Driftin' (John Lee Hooker)

...and in conversation with Rick Stuart.

Rick plays a real cool range of stuff...the show is well worth listening to . Next month Rick has Hollowbelly on the show, and in August he's in session with Mike Snowden......Turn on...Tune in...Drop out, you know it makes sense.

brings a new angle to "underground" music CJ...!  - nice session! (-;
