What's your favorite material/combo?  I've been using Corian nut blanks from Witchita Sam or the old steel nut and bolt combo.

Looking on ebay, I see a lot of pre-slotted bone nuts/saddles for ukes and 6 strings.  Anyone use these?  If you use a 6 sting nut or bridge, couldn't you just cut off the outer ends for a 4 stringer?  Will the spacing be okay? Will a uke nut hold the strings properly?

You can't get a preslotted nut and expect your strings to be positioned correctly to the run of an existing neck.  If you buy a preslotted nut, you need to design the shape and run of your neck around the spacing on that nut.
