Hello All, just joined the group. I've built many CBGs and CBUkes but no mandolins yet. I would like to build one for my Daughter soon. I would appreciate any tips or pointers for my first mandolin build.
Thanks,
Chuck

Craig,

Nice job!  Sound post?  Anything goes with cigar box instruments.  I was thinking of putting in a verzi tone enhancer in a CBM...

Sorry I haven't been more active - since I did start this...  I have a new CBM - actually its a RCBM - Resonator Cigar Box Mandolin... I'll have to post a picture.

Thanks for the comment Donald. I was wondering if anyone was interested CBM at all. No one had posted in so long. Mine went together really easily. I have very little bracing in it, not even any kerfing. I have two small braces run from the neck block diagonally to the sides and (get this) a sound post. The sound and volume really surprised me. I wasn't sure it would hold together but is doing fine. I even played it with my band at the Lincoln museum in Springfield Ill. last week. It's a great little conversation piece. Can't wait to see yours. Craig

This was my third cigar box build but my first attempt at a mandolin. It is a four stringer built for birthday present to my brother.
