Hello distant cousins!  My paternal grandparents came from some where in Sweden.  Maternal roots in Norway and Denmark.  With a name like Swenson, it's pretty clear where the ancestors came from!

Hello Jarmo,

I believe my great grandfather was from Helsinki and my great grandmother was from north in Lapland.  She and her sisters left for America when they were fairly young and traveled alone.

There were many, many Finns where I grew up in the central part of NY state.  They all had poultry farms in the 40's and 50's and most were large land owners.

Several years ago I made a business trip to Helsinki and some areas just around the city.  It was a very enjoyable few days.

Hello ED and welcome to group.

Do you know of any where in the Finnish grandparents are natives of ?
Sisu and sauna .. yes, famous things from Finland, and all who are distantly related to Finnish is much more "Sisu"
by the way, if you have old skis, leave it as they are, old wooden skis are valuable.
Difficult to have a cross-country skiing, but they are old so it means that very valuable.
terveisin
Jarmo
