I like to make my CBG's with a zero fret, and sometimes I find the action is a bit low for a slide.
So I cut a piece of umberlla spoke and slide it over the zero fret to raise the string height.

finding stuff and making it work and play great on a cigar box guitar is the ultimate....its way cooler than buying stuff!!!...not good if you plan to sell them....but if you just want to play and wow people, nothing is cooler than bent forks and kitchen drawer stuff!
