I would like to know the best Piezo location for the best sound quality and why. I know there are many different opinions on this subject. I personally like to locate 2 piezo inside the bridge, this…Continue

Like others have mentioned, I found that using Hot Glue to stick the Piezo Disc to the box, then putting a glob of Hot Glue on top of it really helps to get rid of any 'tinny' sound. It does,…Continue

Comment by Mike "Katfish" Karash on January 23, 2013 at 4:23pm Tried some 20mm (smaller than my usual). No noticeable difference, great sound...
Comment by Ted Crocker on January 21, 2013 at 8:00pm I've found no real noticeable difference, even with a small piece cut from a disk. Read more here.
Comment by Kevin M. Kraft on January 21, 2013 at 9:47am What difference does the size of the piezo disk make in the volume or sound quality? I have read thus far that size doesn't matter much at all. True?
Comment by Michael Recchione on January 12, 2013 at 5:18pm I just finished my first CBG build, with two piezo disks harvested from Radio Shack buzzers and mounted, respectively, under the sound board near the bass side of the bridge, and at the midpoint of the part of the neck inside the box. I used hot glue to mount them. I was worried that the sound would be too harsh and tinny, but the opposite was actually true - it was bassier than I expected, and I have to compensate at the amp to make the sound brighter.
I've wired up passive tone controls, that essentially shunt high frequencies to ground through a pot - basically low-pass filters. I was thinking of using a selector switch on the next build, that would let me choose between that same sort of RC network going to ring (ground) or to tip (to make it a high-pass filter). Has anyone done anything like that, and if so, how did it work out?
Comment by Chris on December 16, 2012 at 3:55pm Stereo jack is fine, just wire it up as usual and don't use the third terminal. Look online for a diagram that shows the difference between the two
Comment by Tom Baugues on December 15, 2012 at 11:28pm I'm nearly done building my first Cigar box guitar so while I'm waiting on the finish to dry I have turned my attention to the piezo and jack. I bought both at Radio Shack months before starting this build and simply went in and asked for a 1/4 inch jack and piezo transduser. The salesman got me both and I paid and left. Well now I realise that I bought stereo jacks. Can I still use them or should I go back and pick upa mono jack?

I use to be a professionnal musicien, I'm now handicaped so I can't play as much as I would like. Now, instead I build instruments ! That's great too.

I use to record with a 8 track analog tape, it makes miracles.
You can hear : "Floating on a dream" here, http://www.myspace.com/httpmyspacecomcatinnie
