Played the open mic at the Southgate House in Newport, Ky last night. It's a great venue for a cbg punk blues set. I played it stripped down- just me and my 3 string electric fretless. Played "Rollin and Tumblin","Death Letter Blues", and my original "Don't Need" Great crowd reaction, several had heard of a cbg but had not actually seen one. I had a problem with the "time bomb" going out of tune on "Rollin and Tumblin"- I was beating the hell out of the strings. But I rolled with it and did much better on the last 2 songs. Tracy Kennedy from here on the nation stopped down to watch me play.

My son and I played our first gig tonight with a CBG and a djembe drum. I can't believe how the crowd reacted. They loved the little 3 string guitar. I got alot of comments after the show, most had never seen or heard a 3 string guitar and they couldn't believe the sound that came from it. I sold 2 guitars tonight and gave out contact info to another person. I can't wait to do it again! What a rush.

Hi there everybody,

just wanted to mention that Tinroof and I played cigar box guitars at the Sleaford live festival on Sunday 2 May.

We played a couple of songs fromthe audience and also fellow musicians from other bands that were playing,

The weather was typical for an English holiday weekend being 10 degrees C and windy.

One musician said that he would have to get a cigar box guitar. Perhaps another convert?

@greg fulks:

isnt it the craziest thing!? every time i show someone i am barraged with comments like "you need to patent that thing so you can make some money.." and i have to explain to them that these things have been around -forever- and i just stumbled upon the idea a long time ago. i didn't even start building stuff with actual cigar boxes until recently. until then it was all cardboard and cookie tins.
yup, i actually have to convince people that i'm not an inventor, just an innovator...! LOL

i love this group!
