That should be all you need, one with some clamps. A good way to level wood is to attach 60 grit sandpaper to a flat surface, such as glass and start rubbing the wood over the sandpaper

Is there an easy way to make wood sandwiches for a possible solid body experiment?

I have a ton of wood scraps, none thick enough or wide enough for the purpose, I'd like to join them together butcher block style to make a slab big enough.

My toolkit is pretty limited, I have an old table saw and a $20 sander.

Tmart - 12 open gear tuners for $7, get 'em in about a week.

Deal Extreme - All kinds of electronicy stuff, by the bag, piezos, caps, pots, cheap, ship from Hong Kong takes a month.

If you're caught short, and need a piezo in a hurry, your local Dollar Tree sells window / door alarms for a $1, you get a piezo, three button batteries, a switch and a magnet.

Guys(and any gals out there?)Thanks for contributing anything you can to this group. if you "view all" under this forum there are some good gems in there. I believe "necessity is the mother of invention(and sometimes creativity). Thats the original reason for building a home made guitar. Sure you can buy all new hardware and electronics at a store, but why not repurpose/recycle something and make your build different than everyone else!

Cheers!

Wade

Dunno about effective, this isn't a very active group on the forum we're giving a false positive on the most active because I posted a couple of things.

If your cheap, you welcome ;)

Yes there was a post there and I was going to edit it. maybe whatever I did was to eliminate it. I am new to the guitar making "sickness" but not to music instruments. I make a number of them and posted this other places on this site and at youtube; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWXTp80MOE4  Some of my work is primitive and all uses few power tools. I am just trying to get a feel for this site and how to post most effectively here.

So did anyone else get an email saying some guy called Lenny Henderson posted here, and yet I can't find his comment?

I totally relate to what he was saying, I always get odd guitars for parts, and then end up fixing them up instead. My first guitar was actually two guitars, and old Silvertone, and a no-name I was sold as a pair to make one good one out of, raiding a couple of tuner ferrules and a post from a local guitar shops spare crap box, I resurrected the noname and a replacement Gibson switch and a Allparts bridge brought the other one to life. I know when I come to need a major part, like a body or a neck, I'm just gonna have to go buy one, because if I get a whole one, I'll never part it out.

It's a sickness.

It's a porch rail, kind of oval, the flat part is 2" x 1"

Hey kool neck-is it a balustrade? Is it flat or round?
Very unique look

Put the TMart tuners to use, was actually in a buddies shop with a drill press, and knocked up three of these, just need to add a piezo under the saddle, and finish it off properly.
