Hi,

I'm new to cbn and a rookie slide guitar builder. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good (cheap) alternative to a slide used for playing a lap slide guitar. I've seen them on ebay made of various materials (metal. bone etc.) and they can be pretty expensive. Thanks

Do a few searches in the upper right hand box of your screen. Try Lowes guitar slide. There is a link to a piece you can buy at Lowes. Also you will find, wine bottle necks, copper pipe and more. It is easier to go back to previous discussions on this because the info is in here!

Will do, thanks.
you could try a deep well socket from a cheap set---lots of folks use those for lap steel and guitar slide playing--9/16ths fits my finger well but if you are using it for lap steel you could try a bigger or smaller one like a 5/8ths or a 3/4 in.you can find these lots of places where they are not a brand new item----flea markets---pawn shops--yard sales/garage sales.many moons ago the deep well sockets were used for spark plug removal and instillation.hope this helps.
Good idea, thanx!
Old medicine bottles are great for lap slide!
I haven't tried it yet, but was thinking maybe you could grind down and smooth out a piece of rebar. The weight would be about the same as a Dunlop tone bar for lap steel.
Get a cheap knife from a cheap set of flatware. Cut the blade of and use the handle if you want a bar.
