Bienvenue, oldharp!

Most of us here are self-taught (autodidact) both for playing as well as building. I am just beginning to learn an American (18th-19th century) version of solfege using only four names--fa sol la and mi.

Please look at the plans section for building a Cigar Box Guitar with three strings (cordes). There may be information there on installing a piezo.

Also, please be sure look at the CBG France group in Cigar Box Nation--most of the communication is in French. If they can't help you, please email me and I will do my best to help.

A bientot!

Willie

I live in France in Lyon (the food is very good), I am restoring full of junk and I am a player of harmonica and guitar, autodidact I know absolutely solfege!!
it is long I look at this very good site, I use google translate because my English is very bad, I wish I joined the group in learning to make a guitar box 3 cords with a sound installation (electric) with a piezo (type phone), why I need some simple diagrams with details of assembly ....
then advance to thank you for all your knowledge and your home

I just finished my first build.Never played guitar in my life and a friend at work who knows guitars said it turned out pretty good and it actually plays when plugged into an amp.It has a few flaws but I can still learn to play on it and actually turned out to be a better lap guitar than an upright. All in all building it has been a learning curve for me showing me what to do next time and what not to do.

Oops, I'm obviously sending notes all over the place when I was just trying to 'introduce myself'. Haven't quite figured out the site yet. Just digging the CBG experience. Have only built one and I'm hooked.

Hi all! I have lurked too long. After building many CBGs and reading alot of posts of I finally signed up. I usually don't sign up for online communities so that was a big step. the vibe here is good so i am glad to be on board. I submitted a blog post with my latest work in progress and a link to a recording I did with the first three CBGs that I built. Not sure if the blog area is the right place here to post stuff but...anyhow i am a newbie :) I will update the profile pic soon.

Hey, I'm Quincy from Winnipeg, MB. Just start building a cookie-tin banjo which I hope to finish within a few weeks. I'm definitely into these musical DIY projects and hope to learn a lot and contribute here. Hopefully my first project is playable so I can take it on my hobo adventures this summer.

I retired from the Marine Corps in 1969 after 22 years. I served in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the Marine Corps I moved to Miami, FL and worked for the Post Office for 7 months and then got a job with State Farm Insurance Companies as a Auto Estimator. I work in Miami for 2 1/2 years then I move to Gainesville, FL and work there for 6 years and again move, this time to Phoenix, AZ were I worked for 10 1/2 years and took early retirement after 19 years with them. I travel in a motor home for 2 years in the summer. I then planed to move back to FL. but moved to Abilene, TX where my daughter was with her husband who was in the U.S.A.F. I started making CBG last year and plan to try and design some a little different than the ones you see on line.

Hi! My name is Constantine Caviris. I am 21 years old and live in NY. My musical taste is a little of everything and everything country. Especially country music with a heavy blues influence. I've built two CBG's and am really falling in love with this art. I also write my own songs on my youtube page: http://www.youtube.com/psychotic33089
Glad to be meeting ya'll.
