Hi,

Ian from Birmingham, UK here. I made my first cigar box uke today and I'm quite pleased with it. Took about 3 hours, although I cheated a bit and used a neck off a £20 cheap uke.

Hi everyone! I'm french, so scuse me for my possible errors! =)

I'm 22 years old and want to become luthier (I've not the english equivalent word, maybe "guitar maker"). In fact I'll go to ITEMM school in september to begin my formation! This is the european school to learn this trade of art!

I discovered recently the CBG and I fell immediately under the charm from this spellbinding instrument! I'm hear to learn more about this, and learn to construct them!

Thanks for this forum, i like it already ^^

Peace

Hello CBG Nation members, I'm Mike Cossey Nic Name kamikaze.I'm from Arky land. Just getting started with the idea of building a CBG, I've done some research, ordered some materials, read what I can on this superb site and thanks to many of you and your posts, tutorials, video clips etc am well on my way to getting past the thinking stage and getting started. Sense I have received benefit from this site I made a small but hopefully useful donation. Thanks to the site and its members, I feel like a kid again at the age of 53. I would like to ask a question, I am having a hard time finding a CB with decent dimensions ,using the usual Ebay and google searches, if I have memory intact, the larger size boxes are best, example: 12x10x3 inches or about. Do you fellas have the same problems of finding good size CB boxes? I am thinking about building my own box from cedar......
Thanks again for giving my youth back to me!........Mike "kamikaze"

Hey, y'all... Tim from Georgia here. I just joined yesterday. I am currently building my first CBG, but definitely not my last. A friend sent me a link to a Mike Snowden video, and I was amazed! I had heard that some great musicians started out playing crudely built guitars made of a cigar box and a plank, and assumed they sounded like a box and a plank. I never imagined they could sound so beautiful! Well, the CBG bug must have bit me while I was watching that video, because now I spend every spare moment working on my CBG, reading about them, and listening to CBG music, and practically everything I look at I see a potential musical instrument. Next, I think I'm going to make a canjo, and I've already thrown together a diddley bow with junk I found in my basement.

The guitar I'm building is pretty basic. Three strings, with a fretless rock maple neck from an old (printing) die board I ripped down. I want to see how inexpensively I can build a playable, decent sounding instrument. The box I rescued from a trashcan at the printing company where I work, the neck is from a die board I rescued from the dumpster at work (it even has bird's eyes)! The bridge is made from a paint stirrer and paint can opener they gave me at Home Depot when I bought some poly for another project, and I salvaged a tailpiece and tuners from an old busted children's guitar. The nut is a shiny brass bolt I had left over from another project. The only things I have bought for it are the strings and piezo transducer, and jack, which I still have to install (I've spent a little over ten bucks). I just have to shim the nut, finish the wood, and install my electronics, and I'll be done! I will post pictures, even though mine isn't nearly as fancy as most I've seen here!

Hi there...
my name is Michael and I found this place by accident just some weeks ago, looking for a birthday present for a former guitar player of a band... and now, now I'm fascinated! I gave my first work away last week and now... well... now I'm silly about doin my next... so many ideas... I cant' believe it. Actually, I'm not able to play a guitar, nether six, five, four or three strings... not even a didley bow... but I'm silly about building them.
I love it to lurk around the guitar stores in my town, I love the staff-faces when I tell them, what I'm goin to do... Germany is an undiscovered land for the 3-string
