Hello Thomas and welcome. Got your email question, but we can't answer those emails so I'll try to help here.
A neck that's ramping from string pressure can be a few problems. Wood type - you said it was hard wood so that may not be the problem. Trussrod - sometimes a trussrod is needed for multiple stringed guitars and guitars of long scale lengths. String scale length - long scale can put a lot of stress on the neck. How many strings - usually a 3 string guitar of 25" scale or less doesn't have a problem like this, but more than 3 strings and longer scale often need a trussrod. Tuning - if your tuned too high and the strings haven't broke, then neck ramping can occur.
Need more info from you. Trussrod? Scale length? How many strings? String gauge? Tuning? Wood type?
Hi thanks for your answer, they both are 3 strings freetless, 14 " freets" on one and 17 "freets" on the other, tuned to G-D-G, I don´t know the string gauge it´s from old guitars but mayby that is the problem, I should use thinner strings, wood type I dont know because I bought a lot of wood pieces but I would say it´s some kind of hard wood :-)
What is a trussrod...
Thanks again Thomas
Those look nice.
The issue most likely is the strings. If your using regular guitar strings, then you might be able to use the 3 biggest strings to tune up on a scale that short(Low E, A and D strings). Would be kinda dark so I would look for Ukulele, Mandolin or 3/4 scale guitar strings.
A lot of guitars have a adjustable or non-adjustable rod inside a channel that runs through the neck. This protects the neck from warping.
An adjustable trussrod allows you to micro-manage the stress on the neck for string action. You can loosen the rod to allow the strings to make the neck warp in a ramping action or tighten the rod to stop ramping.
Most 3 string guitars 25" scale or less will not need a trussrod unless the neck is weak/soft wood or the string stress is too great.
Hope the heavier strings fix your problem.
welcome to the group
