If you've read a version of this already I apologise for wasting your time.

I've just built my first cigar box guitar - out of a jewellery box bought for a couple of quid on ebay. I was inspired when we saw some on a stall at the MG Live! car show - I think one of the racers is also a CBG'ist. My daughter had a play and I had to find out more. There's a video of my daughter playing on youtube.

My CBG is made out of the jewellery box, some wood salvaged from a 100 year old harmonium (much of the rest has been recycled into a cabinet for a modern electronic keyboard) and some common hardware. You can see pictures in my album. I tried to string it with cheapo acoustic steel strings first - but they were way too short! Buying a set of nearly-as-cheap Fender electric strings solved that and I've tuned it (just about) to GBg.

I'm no guitarist - in fact I have no real musical talent - but I've been trying to learn a little watching the videos by LJ, Keni Lee and others.

Don't tell anyone - but I might try making a canjo next. Well, I need to do something with all those extra strings!
