Speaker size and effect on small Amps
Another question on Amps. I have built one of the 2.5W-9V kits from Gitty and I'm very happy with the results and have another basic kit waiting build. This one is planned to be in a larger box/enclosure and I was curious how the 2.5W-9V unit would do pushing a larger speaker. I have access to a few larger speakers from old radios and such and was thinking that it might give more depth of sound. As long as the speakers are of the same ohm rating, will it work out alright? Just don't want to fry the amp by overloading it and I'm dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to electronics.
Just figure that the only dumb question is the one I don't ask and better to pick the wealth of knowlege here before messing up.

Yes, will work great. You can even drive a 4x10 cab with those amp circuits...just not as long as with a single speaker.

Again, yes. Bigger box has larger sides, which works together with the larger speaker for bigger and fuller sound. But with larger speakers, a bit extra mass in respect to box materials will improve sound. Think about how a regular guitar amp box is built...typically from solid pine or high quality plywood (thick & heavy) to deal with and amplify the speaker's vibtrations.

Duck, I must say I've just had a buddy build 4 of the Minty Amp clones from posts BrianQ has here. I am super impressed and via a Weber 12" it kills w. both tone and volume! I own a Smoky and frankly think the MA clone beats it.
