If you have one of those colossal, bonehead, 'DOH' moments building, tell us about it here. Aw come on, admit it. You've done something completely inept. We wanna here about it.

Comment by Rand Moore on September 1, 2011 at 7:37pm Hi Oily,
The strings are extremely loose on the neck so I could remove the neck and head assembly from the box, so the 4th string problem is an allusion in the photo. I plan to remove the top and replace it with another piece of plywood veneer. This time I'll skip the resonator. The weather has been too oppressive (heat & humidity) for me to get out much. If I had a car (with air conditioning), it would be another matter. As it is now I have material enough for at least 3 more builds, and the possibility of redoing (or destroying) some earlier CBGs as I did with CBG#3. I'm waiting for November's cooler weather. Until then I might build a Reso-CBG, as well as try to develop a metal based tail piece as my wooden ones often break, pop-off or the strings slowly cut their way through the wood. Need to visit the mom&pop hardware stores for ideas. B&Q has some possibilities as well, just need to figure out how to put it all together, and it may involve metal bending and drilling out holes. So, will look for a soft metal like brass or copper to begin with.

Comment by Rand Moore on September 1, 2011 at 12:36am The following photo show why neck-thru CBGs don't work well with can resonators... Doh!!!
It's seemed like such a good idea. My CBG #3 build, just wasting away hanging on the wall. Why not make it into a "tuna-can Reso"? The box was deep enough. The can fit quite nicely on the "sound board". I even cut a half decent hole for the can to fit into the sound board. It was only when I went to re-install the neck did I notice the problem. Ai-yahhh!!! Sheesh! I should know better. So, it's one for the Hall of Shame.
