my diddley bows ( so far )

this is the first one I made , took all of 2 mins to build originally , I added the pickup and jack socket later from a old guitar I had kicking about that was well past its best , it worked ok but not great , for one thing the string taken from the same guitar ( was all I had at the time ) was too short , struggled to get more than about a octave and a half from it before it went ultra sonic , I tried a smaller can on it to try and get more but didn't improve it much so I scrapped it and had a rethink

so onto MKII this one works way better , used a new string and it easly gets 2 octaves + , I put the pickup and socket from the other one in a baccy tin and mounted it to the board , added a machine head from the same guitar ( now looking very sorry for itself ) so I can tune it , I broke the last sander belt I had halfway through shaping it so it's a little rough around the edges , one day I will get round to getting it sanded up and finished , but for now I'm just enjoying playing it .

here are 2 pics of my portable bongos.  This is a large set but they can still work as lap bongos.  The cut outs are for your legs.  Played by hand mallets brushes.   /They pack well.

Howdey

I play an array of Instruments from banjo to hurdy gurdy.
I picked up a Guitar Dulcimer 3 years ago and thought i would Make a cigar box version.
this went by the wayside and unfinished.
Then i discovered the Diddley Bow.
I finished the cigar box diddley 10-20-2011 with a Camel Snus resonator.
I will be putting a Transuducer in next and give it a wirl.
will post pictures soon.
I have also Just ordered a custome Cigar box Fiddle
with a Strum stick dulcimer neck from Blaine Horlocker who made my dulcimer.
He really likes a challenge. will send pics on that also.

Thanks.

It's a rattle-can metal paint from the local hardware store.

I've recently built a Broom-Pole & Biscuit (cookie) Tin Slide Bass:

I ditched the 'sophisticated' bridge and replaced it with something more in keeping:

It can be heard here:
