Close but no cigar.  My first attempt at free drawing a blue meanie.  Not as easy as it looks.  I may try projecting the image on the wood and tracing it.  Or I will abandon the big meanie idea

The sleeve idea is a very good one.  I don't think he would be afraid of the headstock.  My boy likes it slightly scary characters. Any suggestions for cutting the metal on the lunch box? The metal is very thin

MichaelS, I notice a big difference even between holding the lid tight with my left hand while strumming vs letting it just sit closed without any pressure. A much richer, deeper tone comes out. I want to try screws because it kinda seems like too much pressure reduces the effect, might need a middle ground.

 

I LOVE the headstock suggestion! Maybe paint the whole neck with the stripes from Hand's sleeve.. but this is a 4 year old, might that be a scary thing for him? What a cool kid, by the way :)

yellow for the neck, with Blue Meanies on the fretboard so your fingers are always mashing them!

Fitzhugh, I always wonderda baout the tight lid vs loos lid. Mine are all loose. I may have to screw one tight and see waht it does.

PapaSimone, I just got off the phone to Pepperland and Peter Max says mellow yellow, absolutely. With lipstick pink and teal for fret markers.

 

(actually, it was Heinz Edelmann's artwork in the movie "Yellow Submarine" but I had to look that up)
