I'm new here and found out about CBG from my curiousity with Stick Dulcimers. Now I want to build a 3 string slide CBG.  I went to the cigar store today and got a few boxes.  Went to Lowes and got a couple poplar boards.  Went to guitar center and got some strings and way overpaid for some ping tuning machines but at least I can hope to make a guitar this weekend and am pretty excited about it.  I got a 3/4 inch socket the other day for a stubby slide.  I am pretty excited about this adventure.

Probably should.. I was raised on Tilghman's Island and no stranger to the Outer Banks. Spent most of my young life on the Bay.Thanks for the comment...Peter

I finished my first build today, used the silicone to glue my piezo right under the bridge area, worked great with my small amp (thanks Elwood ) Project took me about 8 days and it sounds pretty good. I wasn't looking for esthetics more for the quality of sound. I tuned it to open D and tried some blues progressions.It will take me a while to get used to picking 3 strings but all in all I'll be making a few more. I love the gritty sound that comes out of these babies. Thanks to all of you on Cigar Box Nation. I wasn't much of a wood worker but I have learned a lot

I finally got to placing a piezo into my 1st build...My question: does the flat side go against the top of the box and do you glue it....Peter

Mark on the tin where you want your bridge, from there place your neck so that the nut is 25" (25" scale) from the bridge, screw it in place or glue it in place.

I've built a CBG from an actual woiod CB, now I've got some Jack Daniels Whisky tins, and want to build a fretless 3 string from one. Don't know where to start as far as neck attachment, types of pickups to use etc., would like to use regular pickups (maybe humbuckers?), not piezo, but I'll take any kind of good advice.

ANY help would be appreciated.
