i am on my second build and i am coming along faily smoothly. i've got my neck shaped and my tail piece shaped and finished so now i am on to the headstock. problem is that i want to put machine tuners in but don't have any to reference the size shape and spacing before i start removing wood and shaping. i don't want to get too far down the road and find out that i screwed it up and have to use eyebolts again. so i was wondering if anyone had any measurements of generic tuner sizes so i could keep the ball rollng till i get to the guitar shop and pick them up.
oh and thanks for all the info you guys put out there this site is great!
I have made cardboard templates of the headstock and worked out the spacing on that, rather than using the finished piece.
Go to Advanced CBG and down load the PDF in the zip file: http://www.cigarboxnation.com/group/smokehouseguitars?
thanks. exactly what i was looking for
Using cardboard templates is great because you can keep a record of all your different headstock shapes, 2 plus 2, 4 inline, etc. I've got a little library of them going now and it saves a lot of time.
Speaking of tuners, is there a difference between those for acoustic strings and electric strings? I want to use a 2L / 2R configuration.
