hi all, just a small question and i will begin my build. i want to build neck almost through body, so butted agains the back inside of box. that to me is nice looking option.

my question for now is: schould the bottom of the box be free and able to vibrate like the lid or doesnt it matter if the neck in glued to the bottom?

thank you,

Pascal

The bottom vibrating wouldn't be much difference. What you want to avoid is dividing your chamber in two by having a neck that basically goes all the way from the lid to the bottom all the way through the box. If you do what you propose, you might need to drill a series of holes laterally through the neck to let air move between both sides.

I use a tailpiece that covers the butt-end of the box, so I slot the end of my neck into the box (very snug) for a solid build. Then the tailpiece is attached by a screw that goes into the end of the neck. Easy to get the right height for some neck relief and a good height over the box top for good bridge break.
