Hi all,

Bought my first cigar box guitar from a buddy. Still setting it up to what feels good to me.

Anyway, when I plugged it in, the sound was cutting in and out. Found the 1/4in jack turning a bit. When I tightened it, now no sound.

I must have pulled something off. Any ideas?

Ed, I'm guessing that one of the lead wires or solder joints failed due to the Jack movement. Hopefully there's an easy way to get your box open for a quick repair

Sounds like a broken connection somewhere. What MadGomer said, you'll need to open it up and fix the wiring.

Open it up and fix it :)

Don't forget to check soldering joints on all wiring including the vol pot if you have one and your pick up device,

also check to make sure your guitar to amp cord is ok ...tc

So, I cut an access hole in the back behind the 1/4" jack. Lo and behold, one wire was completely off and the other was a cold solder joint. It looks like the builder thought more solder is gooder. I'll clean those two wires up tonight and reattach them. Then I'll fashion a cover plate for the hole.
