Hi all, recently I got into photography quite a bit and frequently hang out at flickr. There are groups for just about everything: cats, Ford Mustangs, orchids, insects, you name it. And CBG but the groups are not updated.
I would like to open a new group where you Nation people can post your builds. It is easy to register at flickr and you can login with your yahoo or google account. An effective and easy way to spread the word.
1. Is it okay to use "Cigar Box Nation" for a name of this group?
2. Are you guys interested at all?
3. Is there a better place here on the forum to make this known? If so, can someone please move this topic.

Maybe I'm being daft, but why? You post your photos here. Put them in albums, etc...it's all here. And viewable to the public.

But I think He means that a larger group of people will get to see and get involved....Might be a grand idea to open our world up to more people.... just my 2 cents worth...lol

It may be just my perception, but Flickr seems to have stagnated or may even be in decline since Yahoo tried to make it a Facebook clone. Yes, there are a lot of groups and a lot of pictures but I am not seeing the activity levels of even six months ago.

Yeah, why not just put up a picture of a screengrab of The Nation homepage and send Flickr users here. Generate traffic and interest in this site and support it rather than dilute it by having a whole other set of pics on Flickr?

I just thought people who came here have been looking around and probably searching the web for topics like CBG like I did. But I am assuming there are not too many visitors at this site admiring the content without having been looking for it in the first place - thats the difference to a photo-sharing-place.
But I got the message and skip it then.

Hey, we all know your intentions are good, and nobody is saying it is a stupid idea. The nation came up #4 on a Google search for me. That's not too bad, behind a commercial site that masquerades as a community site (http://cigarboxguitars.com/) and the Australian group of The Nation (no doubt you wouldn't get that as a high result) and the Wikipedia entry. So if someone is searching for "cigar box guitar" they will easily find the nation.
