Many players including myself tune (low to high) GDG and use the ADG strings of a standard set. This kind of open tuning makes playing easy and allows to transfer the concept of a 6-string guitar to the 3 strings of a cigar box.

It's a personal choice, on a 3 string I use DGB,  but have tried others

like ADG depends on what sound your looking for and how ur tuning.

You will get many opinions on this subject, I say  Experiment ...

So it basic what type of sound you are looking for...Does any 1 used the high E string?...I have plan on making a 4 string guitar too...Is there rule of thumb on this?...Or just Exeriment and most important have fun with it lol
