Tone pot question.  I know you are supposed to use an audio pot for volume and can go either way for the tone pot.  Does the linear pot really make much difference over an audio pot for the tone pot on an electric guitar with single coil pick-up.  I am changing from 500k to 250k and want to do it once. Thanks.

I have a capacitor on a tone pot that reads:  2A473J  its big and dark green. Does that number mean anything to anyone here, maybe what size it is? Thanks

Hey electro wizards. I have a telecaster knockoff with 2 single coil pickups. I have been told that 250k pots would be better sounding than the 500k pot that it came with, would this be for both the tone and volume? And why, what would this do. Any other suggestions for the pots and caps? Thanks

I put a bar piezo under the bridge of my tenor Uke. There's pre-amp a kit at CB Gitty

BUT you need a bar piezo to plug into it that has 4 "sensor spots". I got one of those on eBay (search bar piezo, mandolin). 

 

Good luck! Funny thing about the pre-amp- it's not particularly heavy but it still weighs 2x what the uke weighs!

 

The bar has to go under the bridge and it has to be a very snug fit- you essentially have to bury it so nothing is exposed to air to reduce feedback.

I was wondering if breakage would be an issue.  I think I might pick up that spool of wire anyway.... just because the price is right.  I can always pick up some AWG42 if the 44 proves too difficult.
