I just finished my 1st 4 string using a crocker mag pickup. I wired it like the diagram strung it up and no sound from my amp. Take a look at these pics and see if you spot something. My first other than a Piezo

Do you have a pic of the Jack connections?

I do have the jack wired correctly. I have continuity from the pickup to the pot and then to the ground on the jack. I also have good continuity from the pickup into the pot and continuity out of the pot to the jack on the positive side. Wondering if either the pickup or the pot might be defective. when I crank up the volume knob I get a hum through the amp and also get noise when I plug in the jack when the amp is on. all my solder connections are sound. I think I might bypass the pot and go directly to the jack see if I get string sound. What do you think

Give that a try, The pot may have a dead spot. Have you measured the resistance between the center terminal on the pot to either of the other terminals while adjusting the control? .
I also noticed where is the Black wire connected on the pickup? I cant't quite see where it is going in the pic. Of course I amd on my iPad at the moment....

There is no black wire to the pickup, I split the heat string and it appears the black wire is broken off. Does this black wire go to the opposite pole where the red wire is

as elwwod spotted, it does look as if the black wire doesn't make it to the pickup, but perhaps that's just the angle.

if you unsolder one of the pickup wires from the pot, and read across them, you should get a resistance from the pickup of several Kohms.

if you do have to resolder at the pickup, be careful.  too much heat can melt right through the winding wire at the solder point. if the pickup is your problem, perhaps you could contact ted for further advice?

by the by, it also looks as if you have wired the pot in reverse, which means clockwise is quieter, anti-clock louder.
