I just built a six string, I installes an 8K humbucker at the neck and a 15 K at the bridge. They sound ok but hum like crazy.

I eliminated the pots and switches and hooked them directly  to the jack and they still hum

What can I do?

Did you shield anything?

Did you ground the strings via the bridge or tailpiece?

I grounded the bridge with an 18awg standed wire.

I couldn't find anything to sheild with so I used a aluminum foil tape. Does that work?

the hum decreases when I touch the jack.
