2nd wire added to ground wire.

I have a humbucker pickup with two wires (hot/ground). Instead of stripping out alot more of the ground portion of the pickups ground wire (way more than the hot wire length ...can I just add wire to the pickups ground wire and ground the extra wire/length to the bridge? Hope this makes sense.
