my name is Kevin Munro, im a Hospital Corpsman 3rd class, in the US Navy, but i work and deploy with marines. im just finishing up my second back to back deployment to afghanistan, the first with 3/9, the second with 1/8. i was wondering if anyone knew of a navy themed cigar box guitar or if anyone was willing to make one. I may train and deploy with the marines, but im very navy oriented, and never fail to make sure my marines know that. if so, please let me know, i would greatly appreciate it. if you need my address, please send me a message and i would gladly give it to you along with any other information needed. thank you

Hi Kevin,

Welcome to the Nation and thank you for your service.

I am sure we will be able to fix you up with something. Check back here often.

Dan

I had to post this photo so everyone can see it.  Thanks, guys!  Be safe and come home soon!

yes, this is my squad on top of a mountaintop op just outside the town of Fulad, in the Washir valley, Helmand province Afghanistan. I am the third from the right, back row

Hi Kevin,

I've been involved in this project for a while.  We really like our corpsmen around here.  I've done several "folkart" tops on CBGs.  Take a look at the photos on my page.  If you'd like I'll build you a three or four string, fretted or fretless CBG and work with you on details for the art top.

Just let me know.

blessings, and stay safe,

Wichita Sam

i dont want to come off as sounding greedy or ungrateful, so im just going to give you a general idea and let you work your magic if thats ok. i was thinking a 4 string fretted, and i saw one of yours with a c-17 military plane on it, and that popped an idea into my head for the art. or another idea would be a composite of a few things, including the Eagle Globe and Anchor, the Navy Seal, the Caduceus, and the Fleet Marine Force pin, and then let your imagination run free with the rest. if you need pictures let me know, and i can get you an example of each. something along that lines would be great, but anything would be wonderful. i have a marine who got a cbg and hes been teaching me a few things on how to play, and he told me to come here and sign up. anything would be greatly appreciated, as i said before, i by no means want to sound greedy or ungrateful. thank you so much and please let me know what you think

Kevin,

Nothing greedy or ungrateful about saying yes to an offer given in appreciation.  If you'll email me pics, artwork, etc. to wichitasam@yahoo.com, I'll work on an idea or two for your approval.  Then, build time should be no more than a couple weeks.

Let's get her going and you'll be doing "dueling CBGs" with your Marine Buddy.  ....

the best,

Wichita Sam
