Hello,
I've been watching tons of videos about CBG and I'm absolutely obsessed. I'm deployed in Afghanistan right now and i'm missing my acoustic guitar like crazy. I wanted to know if I could get sponsored with CBG for service members. I would be so incredibly grateful if I could get something with frets that I could sit outside and relax with. I think what you all do is so unique and love the support you give us over here.
From a soldier,
SPC Tribbey :)

I only build 3 string fretless guitars, but if you change your mind I would be happy to oblige.
Hey Wunkyman,
Thank you so much! I guess I would ask your opinion since i've only ever played a classic six string acoustic guitar before if it's difficult to learn a 3 string without frets? If you think it's do'able I'd be honored if I could play one of your guitars.
Thanks,
SPC Tribbey
I think it will come down to what type of experience you are looking for. As far as frets are concerned I do put markings on the top of the neck to show where the 3rd,5th,7th,10th and 12th frets would be. I tend to tune the guitars GDG. Another consideration would be what aesthetic you are looking for. I custom build the bodies to resemble traditional guitar bodies out of recycled and upcycled materials.I don't use a cigar box for the body. I understand that some people really want the box, I can also design and paint graphics on the guitar to suit your personality. I have done everything from patriotic to punk rock. I had this demo video made to show what they can sound like and the different styles that can be played on them.It may help you to decide which way you want to go. I'm sure either Dan or I can make you a guitar that will suit your needs! https://www.facebook.com/wunkywerks/videos/vb.481221465303134/79699...
Bill Thank you so much for the link, I'm unable to watch it right now but I did get a chance to look at your page and see some of the guitars that you've built and they are amazing. I was hoping for a cigar box body and I think frets for me as a newbie would be best. But thank you so much for everything that you do and for serving us overseas!!
Thank again,
SPC Tribbey
Thank you for all you do. I'm sure Dan will set you up with something great!
Hi Ma'am,
Welcome to the Nation and thank you for your service to your country.
If you can live with a fretless one, Bill can fix you up. If you would rather have a fretted one, I can make one for you.
Do you need right handed or left handed?

Dan
Dan,
I was just replying to Bill that I've never played a guitar without frets before and wanted to get his opinion on what the best choice would be ..with or without frets. I'm right handed and I'm so excited to already have responses from you both.
Thank you so much,
SPC Tribbey
Whatever you decide is fine by me. I will be happy to make a 3 string fretted for you.
I personally have trouble playing slide, so I tend to stick to a fretted version where I can fret the notes. A three string could be tuned to GBe like half of a 6 string, or they can be tuned to open tuning like Open G (GDg) or Open D (DAd).
Kind of all depends on what type of music you want to make.
Dan!
So after researching and I think a frets for me would be the way to go. If you could hook me up with a fretted CBG for a right hander... I would be ecstatic!! I like how Open G sounds for tuning but now that I know that you can tune it differently for a different sound, that helps. Thank you so much again for this!!
Thank you,
SPC TRIBBEY
OK, I have one on the bench I can get finished up for you...Stay Tuned...
I can't wait thank you so much again. I'll keep checking back
