Hi Alan
I recently built a canjo using a Jack Daniels Whisky presentation tin in the configuration you described. It works well and you can play the instrument with or without the lid giving two possible sounds...good for recording. Check out my page for a short video. I guess by now you have completed your build but I have only just arrived on CBGN. Good luck with future builds.

Thanks for the message and sharing your picture. I like your build, very cool. Love the JD too. ;) When the project finally gets started I will keep you posted, most of the parts are on hand, getting time is the toughest part!
