AZ CBG Group

WELCOME! Anyone is more than welcome to join! This is a place for all Arizona CBG builders/players to get together! I am hoping we can all get to know each other and maybe start something local here in AZ, be it a once a month jam, or what ever!

As far as I can tell, there are no CBG events and or meetings here in the southwest! Them pesky East Coasters have it too good! LOL (I am from Boston, put them snow balls down ye from the east coast)…Continue

Moved to Green Valley, AZ in October of this year.  Thought I should check this site to see how many CBG'ers live in GV.  Hopefully there are a few.   I just started about 9 months ago teaching myself how to play the 3 string CBG.  I can play some tabs but cannot say I actually play.

Anybody out there?

I'm in Prescott Valley. I build several baritone cigar box ukes a year. Always interested in getting together with peers to share and play. Here are pics of my last three builds. AV%20Uke%20front.jpgAV%20Back.jpg AV%20Inside.jpg Mi%20Sue%C3%B1a%20Uke%20front.jpg Mi%20Suena%20inside.jpg Reserva%20Complete%20Front.jpg Reserva%20Whole%20Back.jpg Reserva%20Inside.jpg

I'm not sure if the group is still active or not. I'm in Cave Creek and do a few builds a year.

Except for David in Chandler, I don't see much activity. Is this group still active?

Comment by David Clewell on May 29, 2016 at 11:38am

Chandler resident and me too.

Hello to Col Bruce,

We are glad to have you here. I am in Mesa and can get over to Maricopa some days. There is much more action daily on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/dustyhawk/  and  https://www.facebook.com/groups/482635468417721/  I have found much support and friend among these groups. Keith Stanford was one of the first to welcome me as well. Ask and somebody adds in their 2 cents worth. Some photos of your work is always good to.  http://www.gittyman.com/  and Glenn Watt, an employee at C.B.Gitty at http://glennwatt.com/ are just a couple I have learned from.

Yep, I got that book also by Sutton and also found the articles interesting.  And yes, a person can follow the directions to make a CBG, but not nearly anywhere as detailed as gittyman's.

And gittyman's book is half the price....but best of all, you buy his book and if if you feel it is not worth the $14, he refunds your money and you keep the book.  That won't happen with any of the other books out there.

Anyway, enjoy the journey amigo....hopefully we can meet up sometime along I-10 (maybe Casa Grande?)
