Permalink Reply by Soulcatcher & His DooFa Diddley on September 26, 2010 at 5:50pm I'll use 42,32,24 on one build, and 16,11,9 on the next ... This ensures I get 2 builds from one set. It also makes me build slightly different instruments.
Nothing worse than mass-producing the same old thing over and over again just because Leo and Les did it. :-))
Permalink Reply by Ahmet G. on June 5, 2012 at 5:29pm Hi. I wanna ask a basic question about strings.
Do we use the 3 thinnest string of standart acoustic guitar strings for 3-string cbg? Or are there special strings just for cbgs?
If you want a higher pitch instrument, you can use strings gbe instead and tune ebe. Same 151 tuning. If the lower g is too slack because you are tuning down to get the e, use a slightly heavier gauge. Of course, I am talking about a standard scale length of about 24 - 25 inches. Enjoy.
